About Lingnan C♥Connects
With the University’s motto "Education for Service", community service is always an integral part of campus life. The University tries every means to provide students with not only opportunities for participation in an active campus life but also experiences to care for the welfare of the community. With the theme "Care for Community．See the Connections", the Lingnan C♥Connects Programme aims to:
- raise the level of social awareness of students and encourage them to care for the community;
- help students to develop a right attitude in life;
- learn about people from different walks of life;
- enhance students’ organizational, management and communication skills;
- connect students’ experiences, own potentials and lifelong goals.

Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) (義務工作發展局)

Lingnan University is a Corporate Member (團體會員) of AVS. Lingnan students can join AVS’ listed volunteer services for free.

Browse the website of AVS for the volunteer services that you are interested in: https://www.volunteering.org.hk/campaign_search .

Download the application form here in order to apply for the volunteer services that you wish to join. Return the completed application form to AVS via vrs@avs.org.hk for their processing (Corporate Membership Number of Lingnan: CM000479) .
- AVS will generally process the application and inform the applicants with the result in 3 working days. Successful applicants will then receive a “Confirmation Email” from AVS around 1 week before the volunteer services, delineating the details and arrangement of the volunteer services. Please attend the volunteer services as scheduled and in a punctual manner.

You are most welcome to regularly look for available volunteer services opportunities which are available in Lingnan Off-campus Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.). The website of L.O.V.E. is updated from time to time with new opportunities.

complete the online M1 programmes (Item 1 – 16) by 30 September 2022; and

complete the online M2 programmes (Item 17 – 19) by 30 September 2022; and
-
attend the face-to-face Campus Life Carnival on 7 September 2022.

Outstanding and devoted C.Connects Crew Members will be nominated for Hong Kong Volunteer Award (Individual Award) .

The service hours are counted and accumulated from 1 January till 31 December of the same year.
How to have your service hours counted?
Structured Community Services Programmes
-
For C♥Connects Crew Members who have successfully completed the entire structured community services programme(s), the Office of Student Affairs will arrange to collect the service record(s) from the cooperating organization(s) and the service hours contributed will be automatically recorded by the end of each term.

Submission of supporting documents will not be necessary.
Other Community Services Opportunities

For C.Connects Crew Members who have successfully completed those AVS’ listed volunteer services by using the Corporate Membership Number of Lingnan (i.e. CM000479), the corresponding service hours will be recorded by AVS directly. Submission of supporting documents will not be necessary.

For C♥Connects Crew Members who have successfully participated in self-arranged volunteer services or those community services opportunities available in Lingnan Off-campus Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.), please input your service records and upload the supporting document(s) in the C♥Connects Online Platform for Volunteer Service Record Submission within one month upon completion of that particular volunteer service.

To certify your volunteer service record, please provide us with one of the following information as supporting document(s):
- Certificate / letter issued by the corresponding organization, with the details and service hours of the volunteer service being stated
- “Volunteer Service Record Sheet” endorsed by the corresponding organization. Please click here for downloading the template
- Any other documentary proof that can certify your participation and service hour at that particular volunteer service

Upon submission of service record, your information will be reviewed and endorsed, if applicable, in about 10 working days. You will be informed by a separate email for the endorsement status in due course.

Once enrolled, applicants should be committed to the training programmes and community service programmes / volunteer services and never be absent without unexcused reason.

Updates of the Lingnan C♥Connects Programme (e.g. application schedules of various structured community service projects / community service awards / scholarships / international conferences & programmes) will be disseminated to C♥Connects crew via emails from time to time. C♥Connects crew are highly recommended to check your Lingnan email account regularly and make sure it is ready for receiving new emails.
