Recognition Scholarships and Awards Administered by the University

If the value of an award exceeds HK$13,000, the scholarship shall be open for application. This may not apply to some donations where the donor has established an approval procedure, which we have to follow. A Standing Panel of Scholarships will be set up responsible for the selection.

Entrance Scholarships

A range of entrance scholarships are available to support high-calibre local and non-local students. Lingnan University Non-local Student Scholarship supports outstanding international students to receive university education, including those from low and lower-middle income countries.

Eligibility and Criteria:
  • Year 1 full-time undergraduate students, pursuing their first undergraduate degree immediate succeeding completion of their senior secondary school education.
  • The awardees should be permanent resident of Hong Kong.
  • The awardees should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00 in 1st term.
  • The awardees should demonstrate a record of community service or charitable work, undertaken prior to their application of the Scholarship.

Eligibility and Criteria:
  • The Scholarship shall be awarded to one Year 2-4 full-time undergraduate student majoring in Finance.
  • Awardee should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.20 in the current academic year
  • If there are candidates of comparable academic merits, priority shall be given to the student who has financial need.

Eligibility and Criteria:

The Scholarhip Scheme aims to develop professionals in the insurance sector who pursue higher education in the University’s Risk and Insurance Management (“RIM”) Programme.

No. of Awards and Amount : (A) Recognition Scholarships - HK$42,100 each for maximum 9 students from Year 2 to Year 4 ; (B) MSc Overseas Scholarships - approximately HK$450,000 each for maximum 2 final year students.

Recognition Scholarships

Nominations from the Department of Finance and Insurance shall reach the Office of Student Affairs (OSA). OSA will arrange selection interview.

MSc Overseas Scholarships

Students should submit the application form with conditional offer letter from the Bayes Business School, City, University of London (or other institutions with Donor’s discretionary endorsement) to OSA. Late submission will not be considered. OSA will arrange selection interview.

Eligibility and Criteria:
  • The Scholarships shall be awarded to 1 full-time year-3 or year-4 undergraduate student majoring in Finance; and 1 full-time postgraduate student majoring in International Banking and Finance.
  • The selection criteria for the Scholarships shall be on academic achievement and performance. Each awardee should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00. If there are candidates of comparable academic merits, their involvements in extra-curricular activities shall also be taken into consideration.

No. of Awards and Amount : HK$5,000 for 1 undergraduate student and HK$8,000 for 1 postgraduate student.
